India is a Bright Spot, Should Make Labor Market More Flexible

During a July 2016 trip to India, Lars Peter Hansen spoke with reporters at a special press conference organized by the Indian School of Business in Hyderabad. The Economic Times of India featured an interview focusing on the role of the Reserve Bank of India and the potential impact of Brexit.

“Prodding India to continue on the reform path, Nobel laureate and noted economist Lars Peter Hansen on Monday said the prime focus of the Reserve Bank of India should be on inflation management and it should not be expected to fix the nation’s macroeconomic challenges. ‘The central bank (RBI) should continue to focus on inflation. I think sometimes people expect too much from the RBI,’ Mr Hansen told reporters here.”
